To buy or not to buy

Sun Mar 8, 2009, 9:56 PM
Hey there everyone! So far so good with the 40 poems a day thing. I've actually written more than a poem a day on average. Well here's my dilema:

I have a Toshiba laptop that has been working awesome for me for 3 years. The only real problem I have with it is the battery life sucks! I only get 1 hour if I'm lucky. Portability is another issue but I'm willing to compromise on that. With low battery life, I'm basically confined to being indoors stuck next to an outlet.

So some of my friends and I have been researching netbooks. For those of you that don't know what they are, they are like small laptops (9 inch screens but you can get up to 14) that are basically used for the internet. You can also put Microsoft office on it so you can do some work with it. It also gets a minimum of 5 HOURS of battery. And they range from $250-400. The downside of it is that there is no CD drive so no burning CDs or watching movies on the road.

As a writer who can't sit still and likes to travel, having one of these would be a plus. On the other hand, I don't want to have two computers that can basically do the same thing. Another option would be getting a brand new laptop, which wouldn't be so bad but if I could get away with just the netbook, I would prefer that route. Basically I just want some technological freedom for creativity sake.

If I do have to give up the laptop I have now, I would give it to my brother if he wants it. So if anyone has any advice, let me know. I've got as much time as those netbooks do, which I hope is alot.
